Jackson Maine lives!
Bradley Cooper joined Pearl Jam on stage at the BottleRock Napa Valley music festival on Saturday to perform "Maybe It's Time," an original song from his 2018 film "A Star Is Born." Footage of the moment, which seemed straight out of the film itself, was shared on YouTube.
Cooper starred as fictional singer Jackson Maine in the 2018 version of "A Star Is Born," which depicts the romance between Maine and rising star Ally, played by Lady Gaga. In one scene, Jackson invites Ally on stage to perform with him, jumpstarting her own music career. "Maybe It's Time," written by Jason Isbell, is one of the other songs performed by Cooper's character in the movie.
Cooper slipped back into his Jackson Maine voice as he came on stage at BottleRock and asked the crowd, "How's everybody doing?" Pearl Jam vocalist Eddie Vedder introduced the actor as his "great, great pal," and the two shared a hug after the performance.
In a 2018 interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, Cooper, who also directed "A Star Is Born," said he spent "four or five days" with Vedder while working on the film and asked him "nine thousand questions" that helped him prepare for the role.

"He gave me minor, little things that only musicians know about what to do just aesthetically," Cooper said. "He was wonderful. I would send him songs that I was working on. He's a wonderful friend."
But Vedder admitted on "The Howard Stern Show" in 2020 that he initially warned Cooper against doing the movie, telling the actor that films about rock and roll never get it right. "I don't think anyone can pull it off," he recalled saying. "It's not that you can't. If anyone could, it might be you. But I would really think this through."

In the end, though, Vedder said he was "blown away" by the film. "It just took me there," he said.
"A Star Is Born" was a critical and commercial success, earning eight Oscar nominations, including best actor for Cooper. It won the best original song Academy Award for "Shallow," a duet that Cooper and Gaga famously delivered a sizzling live performance of on stage at the 2019 Oscars.
